Fork-to-farm agent-based simulation tool augmenting BIOdiversity in the agri-food VALUE chain<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

BioValue is a European project funded by Horizon 2020<\/strong> involving 17 international partners with the aim of enhancing agricultural and food biodiversity in Europe<\/strong>. The project takes a holistic and participatory<\/strong> approach to analyse the relationships between biodiversity, the agri-food value chain, the environment, health and consumer preferences. Through an agent-based simulation model<\/strong>, BioValue studies the interactions between supply chain actors in different climate and water scenarios, in order to foster the spread of underutilised and genetically diversified crops<\/strong>. The project integrates participatory breeding activities<\/strong>, novel food development<\/strong> and the implementation of certification and traceability systems<\/strong>, with the aim of promoting a transition to more resilient and sustainable agroecosystems<\/strong> and stimulating a positive change in the eating habits of European consumers.<\/p>\n

Within the project, Open Fields collaborates as a service provider with the Department of Agri-Food Sciences and Technologies of the University of Bologna<\/strong> for Work Package 9, which is dedicated to product labeling and traceability, with a focus on the Italian lentil supply chain<\/strong>.
