SOIL MASTER

Strengthen the Competitiveness and Sustainability of Western Emilia Agriculture Through a Pilot System of Construction of Skills and New Practices on Carbon Credits and Agroecology

The project aims to establish an Innovation Hub to support agricultural businesses in the horticultural supply chains of Emilia-Romagna, with particular focus on the western area of the region, in the adoption of agroecological practices and in access to carbon credits according to the new European legislation (Reg. EU 2024/3012). The Hub will serve as a replicable model, offering information, training and advisory services, in an interactive manner, to enhance the resilience and innovation capacity of farms.

Principal actions

  • Idea desk and incubator (SOIL MASTER): listening point at Azienda Agraria Sperimentale Stuard for collecting innovative ideas and answers to questions about agroecological practices and carbon credits. Operating for 18 months, twice a week.
  • Exchanges of ideas and needs between farmers, researchers and consultants, supported by facilitation techniques: organization of 2 workshops to delve deeper into agroecology and carbon credits, and integrated consultancy activities for businesses.
  • Peer-to-peer and demonstration companies: creation of an in-person training event for companies available to become “lighthouse farms”, facilitating exchanges of knowledge and good practices between farmers.

Expected results

  • Birth and operation of the information desk;
  • Organisation of 2 thematic workshops and a training event for demonstration companies;
  • Drawing up guidelines for effective interaction and co-creation methodologies between partners and farmers;
  • Growth of confidence and capacity for action of farmers in adopting agro-ecological solutions and accessing carbon credits, strengthening the resilience and innovation of regional horticultural supply chains.
